Who is this course for?

This NVQ is aimed at drivers whose job role involves multidrop deliveries, customer interaction and in some cases, dealing with financial transactions. It is available to anyone who is aged 19 – 65 and in employment. An NVQ is a practical, workbased qualification that is recognised by employers throughout the UK.

An NVQ will enable employees to develop and improve their skills, allowing employers to prove competency in their workforce. NVQs can assist in recruitment and retention, increase productivity, demonstrate quality to potential clients and boost morale and motivation.

Unit content

The candidate is required to complete the five mandatory units plus a variation from the remaining twelve optional units:

  • Prepare the vehicle for driving
  • Operate and monitor the vehicle systems
  • Maneouvre the vehicle in restricted spaces
  • Obtain information on the collection and/or delivery of loads
  • Protect the vehicle and the load
  • Attach and detach vehicle mounted bodies
  • Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations
  • Couple and uncouple the vehicle
  • Dealing with payment transactions in logistics operations
  • Drive the vehicle on private roads in a safe and fuel efficient manner
  • Drive the vehicle on public roads in a safe and fuel efficient manner
  • Ensure the vehicle is loaded correctly
  • Ensure the vehicle is unloaded correctly
  • Load the vehicle correctly
  • Make an effective contribution to a business in logistics sector
  • Plan the route and timings for the collection and delivery of goods
  • Unload the vehicle correctly
