Skid Steer - CPCS

Objectives

To prepare candidates for employment as a Skid Steer Loader operator where the CPCS operator’s licence is a requirement.

Who is this course for?

Workers who are new to Skid Steer Loader operations and have not had any formal training and/or minimal experience.
Experienced workers who have had previous formal training.

Unit content
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Approved Code of Practice
  • The Provision and use of Work
  • Equipment Regulations 1992
  • To identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
  • To comply with manufactures instruction in accordance with the operators hand book.
  • Carry out pre-use running checks.
  • Set the loading shovel for site and road travel.
  • Travel over differing types of terrain.
  • Travel up and down substantial inclines in loaded and unloaded state.
  • Manoeuvre in a confined space.
  • Carry out excavation from an embankment of different materials from stock piles and ramps.
  • Work within safe parameter.
  • Place the machine in and out of service condition.
  • Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter.

Course duration

Up to 35 hours for training depending upon operator ability.
Theory Test: 1hr 15m
Practical Test: 1hr 45m

Additional Information
Only 1 candidate can take a theory or practical test at a time.

A valid CSCS Health & Safety test must have be passed within 2 years before the course start.
