Road Roller - CPCS / NPORS

Objectives

To prepare candidates for employment as a Road Roller operator where the NPORS operator’s licence is a requirement.

Who is this course for?

Foundation Training - workers who are new to Road Roller operations and have not had any formal training and/or minimal experience.
Experienced Worker - workers with a minimum of 3 years site experience and with at least 2 years experience on a Road Roller.

Unit content
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Approved Code of Practice
  • The Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992
  • To identify the basic construction and components, and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
  • Carry out all pre-use running checks.
  • Set Roller for site travel.
  • Travel over differing types of terrain, including undulating ground.
  • Manoeuvre in a confined space.
  • Set Roller for compaction duties.
  • Prepare an area prior to compacting, i.e. traffic/personal management .
  • Compact up to supported and unsupported edges.
  • Compact against radii / obstructions.
  • State the conditions that my cause instability.
  • Place the machine in and out of service condition.

Up to 3 Days for novice training
1 Day for Experienced Worker
Start 8:30 am
Finish Approx. 4:30 pm
