MEWP – Boom - NPORS

Objectives

Through a combination of targeted training and testing, the candidate will gain a CPCS Trained Operators Card (red). 

Who is this course for?

This course is for individuals who are new to plant operations, or experienced operators wishing to gain their CPCS Trained Operators Card.

Unit content

The course uses a combination of practical and theory training to allow the candidate to complete the learning outcomes:

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a access operator
  • Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
  • Check emergency lowering functions
  • Undertake all pre-use checks
  • Configure and ready for site travel
  • Travel over level surfaces (all types) and uneven terrain (self-propelled units only)
  • Explain travel procedures and precautions on inclines
  • Manoeuvre in confined spaces
  • Configure and set-up for accessing duties
  • Position the platform to access a work position
  • Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Access working points up to full operating height and reach
  • Travel with a raised platform (relevant endorsement)
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures

 

Course duration

Novice Operators: 14 hrs
Experienced Workers: 7 hrs

training can book the Theory and Technical
Tests only:
Theory Test: 1 hr
Technical Test: 1 hrs
